History of School Establishment

Grandis Primary School originally started its life with the planning name of ‘Banksia Grove East Primary School.’ The school was built to cater for the quickly growing community of Banksia Grove. Stephen Bevan was appointed as the foundation principal and worked for 6 months in the year prior to the school’s opening to engage with the community and build a strong team of staff. Trudy Jones (Deputy Principal) and Jackie Norman (MCS) were appointed in Term 4 of 2018 to assist in preparing the school for its opening. During this time the community was also engaged in the process of naming the school, deciding on its motto and logo and in designing its school uniform. A Steering Committee of interested parents was formed to assist in shaping the direction of the school.

Foundation teaching and support staff were also appointed in Term 4 of 2018, commencing work at the school in 2019. This team have formed a cohesive, collaborative unit upon which a vibrant and successful school has been established.

The school was opened in two stages:

  • Stage One (2019) included transportable classrooms, storage areas and play areas for Kindergarten and Pre-primary students. This small school was situated at the eastern end of the school site. Stage One was officially opened by Hon Sue Ellery, MLC, Minister for Education and Training on 15 March 2019.
  • Stage Two (2020) included the remainder of the school with its permanent buildings and facilities, which cater for students in Years K to 6. The school now has five teaching blocks, administration area, playgrounds, undercover area, library, dental therapy centre as well as multi-purpose courts and an oval which are shared with the City of Wanneroo. Stage Two was officially opened by Hon Mark McGowan, Premier of Western Australia on 14 February 2020.
